Moving to Cyprus — With a Local Partner Instead of Paperwork Stress
Moving to Cyprus is straightforward for EU citizens — on paper. In practice you face the Yellow Slip, a social insurance number, bank account opening, rental contracts and authority appointments, often in Greek. That is where we come in: we live on the island ourselves and personally guide you through every step of relocating to Cyprus — from planning at home to a fully set-up everyday life here.
What you need to relocate
EU citizens enter visa-free and register after 90 days with the Yellow Slip (MEU1). Add health insurance, proof of address and — depending on your situation — an employment contract or proof of funds. We compiled all requirements and realistic costs in our guide moving to Cyprus: requirements & costs. Non-EU citizens have several routes too — from the digital nomad visa to permanent residence.
Who is Cyprus right for?
Three groups in particular: retirees drawn by the mild climate and the flat 5% tax on foreign pensions (see moving to Cyprus as a pensioner), entrepreneurs and freelancers who combine company formation with non-dom status for substantial tax savings, and families and remote workers looking for sun, safety and English-speaking schools. Our cost of living calculator shows what life on the island costs.
Housing: rent first, buy later
We advise most newcomers to rent first and get to know the regions — Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca and Nicosia all have very different characters. When you are ready, we help you find the right rental or purchase property — and our page on relocating to Paphos covers the most popular expat region in depth.

Moving to Cyprus — FAQs
What do I need to move to Cyprus as an EU citizen?
Just a valid ID card or passport to enter. After 90 days of residence you register with the Yellow Slip (MEU1). You should also have health insurance and be able to show sufficient income or funds.
How much does moving to Cyprus cost?
Plan €3,000–€10,000 for the move itself depending on volume, plus deposit and first months of rent (about €1,500–€4,500) and minor administrative fees. Monthly living costs run €1,500–€3,000 for a single person depending on lifestyle.
How long does the Yellow Slip (MEU1) take?
Book your appointment with the migration office early; processing itself usually takes a few weeks. We prepare all documents with you and accompany you to the appointment so it works the first time.
Can non-EU citizens relocate to Cyprus?
Yes — common routes are the Permanent Residency programme (property investment from €300,000), work permits via a Cyprus company, the digital nomad visa, and the Category F visitor permit for the financially independent.
What tax advantages does Cyprus offer new residents?
Non-dom status means 17 years without tax on dividends and interest. Corporate tax is 12.5%, foreign pensions can be taxed at a flat 5%, and there is no inheritance tax.
Do you also help after I arrive in Cyprus?
Yes — that is our core service: dealing with authorities, opening a bank account, registering for utilities, finding doctors and schools, and everything daily life requires. English-speaking and on the island.
