Cost of Living in Cyprus Explained
The cost of living in Cyprus varies greatly depending on the city and lifestyle. While Limassol as a business center has the highest prices, cities like Paphos and Larnaca offer an excellent price-performance ratio.
A blanket comparison with Germany is unreliable: rent can be higher in some markets, local services lower and imported products more expensive. Compare the categories that actually apply to your household.

Housing Costs and Utilities
Rental prices in Cyprus have risen in recent years, but remain moderate in European comparison. A 2-bedroom apartment near the city center costs between €900 and €1,800, depending on the city and location.
Electricity can be material because of air conditioning, pools and building condition. Solar hot water reduces one part of consumption but does not replace a household-specific annual estimate.
Daily Expenses and Leisure
Food in Cyprus is partly cheaper than in Germany, especially fresh fruits and vegetables from the local market. Imported products from Germany are available in most supermarkets, but cost about 20-30% more.
Leisure activities are diverse and affordable. A restaurant visit for two people costs on average €40-60, a coffee €3-4. Sports activities on the beach are often free, while gyms cost €40-60 monthly.
